The Tió de Nadal

I took an opportunity to spend my long weekend outside the city. I actually stayed at La Garriga town in the mountains near the Montseny Natural Park. While I was walking through the streets something caught my attention. The group of people was gathered around very long table. I could hear the laughs of children running around and carrying an odd, painted pieces of wood. What was that? There were making their own the tios the Nadal. According to Catalan tradition the day ofla inmaculada Concepcion is the time when people officially starts the Christmas preparation. I strongly encourage you to read more on the internet about this peculiar tradition.Yes... you right I couldn't resist to make one myself- watch the video.
'The form of the Tió de Nadal found in many Catalan homes during the holiday season is a hollow log of about thirty centimetres length. Recently, the Tió has come to stand up on two or four little stick legs with a broad smiling face painted on the higher of the two ends, enhanced by a little red sock hat and often a three-dimensional nose (Wikipedia;))'.
